According to a recent research conducted by the National Alliance to End Homelessness revealed that approximately 550,000 youth and young adults up to age 24 experience homelessness for longer than one week in the United States of America; 380,000 of them are under the age of 18 and only about 50,000 of these youth are served by homeless youth programs annually. Similarly, in the state of Minnesota, a survey conducted by the Amherst H. Wilder Foundation showed that an estimated 2,500 Minnesota youths and young adults, between 18 and 21 years of age - including minors age 17 and under, experience homelessness every night. 46 percent of them have no place to go and are forced to live on the street or stay in abusive situations. Sadly, this segment of the population is often ignored, even though the potential path of the homeless affects us all as a community. In order for these homeless youth and young adults to have the necessary tools they need to make smooth transition from the streets and housing/shelter programs, and toward becoming productive members of society, Lifeconnect Incorporated has decided to embark on a mission to provide the homeless youth and young adults safe transitional housing alternative, teach a multitude of skills to empower them to self-sufficiency, and facilitate their reunification with their immediate communities. To achieve this, LifeConnect has published this book. It is an educational and self-help book that discusses the concept of noble cause, leadership, use of skills and strengths in businesses or job market as well as how to explore talents and passion in making career choices, career planning, and setting career goals in details so as to help homeless youth or young adult get empowered and successfully transition successfully into meaningful independent living. Lifeconnect Incorporated also hosts periodic educational outreach events in collaboration with Community Libraries and schools in the community. The events are facilitated by a group of well-trained, skilled and qualified professionals, and it’s created for the youth and young adults between ages 18 to 35 seeking to develop essential life skills and address any dire situations they may be facing, especially in the area of career goals setting, financial resource management and connecting with/sustaining jobs or career. Participation is on a first come, first serve basis as venue capacity allows. One of our goals is to offer many opportunities for the reduction of depravity and poverty through needed intervention. Lifeconnect Incorporated provides as many individuals as possible with a thorough foundation for future success through these educational events. Free transportation will be available from participating institutions, and every participant from each participating center will be dropped off immediately after the event. Come and enjoy presentations, video and gaming to simplify complex concept of leadership, career planning and goal setting, important financial concepts, and use of tools and apparatus to connect with potential employers.
